I was doing an elevator pitch using Framer, as you could probably guess everything went wrong. I pulled the Frameless app, and I had no wifi on the elevator. Any good Ideas or potential features to solve this problem. Any good ways to cache the prototypes on the iPhone.

well, you could probably turn it into html5 offline app and save it to your iPhone home screen to have it without browser chrome.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out. Life has its ups and downs.

Open from Dropbox in textastic? Not sure if this would work but might be worth a shot

Joel Leví Hernández

John Grendon Enderby I didn't even know I could laugh this hard .

This is getting way off-topic. Is Framer making an iPhone app like Marvel that has caching in the App?

Shabba Sean

Probably not. Sorry about your situation sounds not fun but try harder dude. Framer is spitting out web code, there are a million ways to store that code on your iPhone.

Joel Leví Hernández

I just quick searched in the App Store , did you try this ? This is not the only app that claims to do so

Luis Ricardo La Torre

They made an Andriod App tho

Luis Ricardo La Torre

Nice! Joel Leví Hernández coming to the rescue!

Shabba Sean

I guess your dreams are on hold until then.

Shabba Sean

Don't google for people Joel Leví Hernández, you are enabling their laziness!

Luis La Torre small world! guessing they are Ohio acquaintances. I graduated from OSU in 2006.

I have used ProtoSee with Axure. Not sure how well it will play with FJS but may be worth checking out

Chris Camargo

Luis La Torre: We've had success with ProtoSee in the past. You just need to make a few configuration changes when you create the prototype and it should work. I believe they were around 1x/2x, and whether or not to include a system status bar and fake home screen.

Luis La Torre You could take the HTML/JS code and use PhoneGap to run that code as a mobile app. You could also use Apache Cordova which is the same but open sourced by @Adobe. More about cordova here: https://cordova.apache.org/ Hope this helps ;)

I'm having the same problem :( I've tried:
- Offline Pages Pro (doesn't allow full-screen browsing)
- ProtoSee (extreme lag and fails to load properly)
- /offline.html (discontinued feature)
- Dropbox hosting [ dropbox.com/.../index.html ] => [ dl.dropboxusercontent.com/.../index.html ] (doesn't load on either web/mobile)

Is there anything else I could try?

Luis La Torre How about putting those framer file into an ipa with UIWebView?
I've tried and it works like a charm!
All you need is XCode and a developer account

Josef Richter

Why so many extremely complex solutions?? I repeat, try adding offline manifest file and that's it. Might even work with Framer Studio built-in share function. Haven't tried myself though.

Daniel Lin

Josef, what does that mean? Is it adding "/offline.html" at the end of the url?

Josef Richter

no. offline manifest is just a text file that says which files should be cached and used when offline. since framer projects are just html/css/js, it should work just fine. you'll need to add and edit the manifest file manually though. start here http://diveintohtml5.info/offline.html or here http://www.html5rocks.com/en/tutorials/appcache/beginner/

You know you dont have to stand in the elevator? Its just called that becaus of the time u are in an elevator dude 😂

Kasper Andersen

I know it won't help you right now, but we are working on a small app that will fix this problem. Let me know if you want to be on the beta list (when there is one).

Luis Ricardo La Torre

We have our second troll Reshad Farid

David Phillips

Didn't know about the offline manifest thing. Will check that out. When I had to present a Framer proto last week, I ended up setting up a local webserver on the phone (Android), and hosted it right off the phone. No connectivity necessary.

Antonio Krämer Fernandez

you can also turn your mac into an wifi hotspot and connect your phone to it.

Josef Richter

…and always take the your Mac for elevator rides, just in case
