Who can point me in the direction on how to take my framer prototype from Framer to Swift 2 or Swift 1.2?
What are you looking to find out?
Jordan Robert Dobson is it a way to take my framer code and add it in Xcode for Swift? I cant find a way to add it or do I have to just re-code what I've done in framer in swift?
Yea. You have to recode it now that you've figured out what you want to do.
Jordan Robert Dobson what do u mean? I don't understand what you're trying to say
Jordan Robert Dobson lol OK smh this whole time I thought framer studio had a way to implement your code into Swift or ObjC. Thanks for the response
Nope. But development is similar. Many more concerns to deal with in xCode.
Jordan Robert Dobson exactly lol
Yeah im teaching myself Swift right now and learning how to create closures, along with optionals is definitely a huge undertaking. I would suggest using FramerJS for your customer validation using templates/snippets of coffescript to get your ideas out quickly and validated. Then learn Swift and partner with a iOS Dev whose learning Swift as well. That's what I'm doing for my project/app.
Jarriel Henderson I've been learning Swift since its release last yr. Now catching up on all the new changes in Swift 2 in Xcode 7.
Yeah i just started learning a month ago been going through the tutorials with Treehouse and bought a book. Trying to bridge Meteor's DDP Client with Swift to create some unique apps
That said there are a lot of similarities with how you structure things. While the code can't be shared a lot of the ideas can be reused. Depends on if you use constraints or not too.
Looking forward to more posts from both of you Jordan and Freddy. I'm working on a IoT Dashboard so when i get ideas going with Particle i can just test it out
Jordan Robert Dobson that's what I'm seeing as I'm testing out now in Xcode. Writing the code in framer and in Swift is two different things. The constraints in Xcode still suck lol but it does help in some situations.
Jarriel Henderson what's the Meteor DDP client?
Jarriel Henderson sounds interesting. Keep me posted. That's my next step. Working on IoT projects. I've been using node.js for a few simple projects with IoT but need to spend more time learning
I for one love constraint based layout. :)
Hey Freddy here's an example of the DDP Client within Meteor https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWJ2bgg8xxo
Here's the developer who created the video preview above discussing what he did... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHbmqTiTKRg
Jarriel Henderson about to watch it now
Jarriel Henderson is exactly right and it's the method I use(d) to learn Swift. I put together my idea with Framer, tested it with friends/colleagues and refined it. Then I had a clear vision and focused on rebuilding it. In the long run it saved me a ton of time.. also, when I needed help with how to do something I showed my Framer prototype to my dev friends and they could clearly see what I was trying to do. Still not proficient in Swift though since I spend my days designing and doing front end - hope to change that
Stephen I'm diving into it head first here very soon. We should share methods we find. Also I have some free treehouse accounts if a few people want some.
Would love one!
Jordan Robert Dobson free as in for lifetime or trial?
yeah Treehouse is legit, they give you code to look at and everything. I'm at the end of the iOS tutorials and Im about to start the Android Studio course
I just need you to DM me your email. And transfer me $800 so I can fly back home from Russia and add you to my team account. 😏
Jordan Robert Dobson so in other words $800 for the account lol
Seriously though... DM me your email and I'll add you. :)
haha I sense the beginnings of a possible startup developing!!
just read through this thread and found it very interesting to read about your guys approach to learning swift (after playing with ideas in framer). interested to see if anyone has tried bitfoundation. just started and was wondering if you think treehouse is better/different/if you have any opinions at all on it
Nicolas Russo-Larsson u mean bitfountain?
lol yeah woops
Nicolas Russo-Larsson ive never used treehouse but I'm a member of bitfountain. Great courses they have and you learn a lot.
Nicolas Russo-Larsson I have their iOS course and learn a lot from it
oh cool thats great for hear. thanks Freddy
