Hey, I've been getting a blank Viewer screen in Studio for all projects, even the "default" one. Nothing show up in the inspector, but if I try to open it trough the Mirror URL I get this :
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/var/folders/rf/97d0bl2n7ts4_h_gndf9wrmr0000gn/T/tmpD4IL5R/lib/python/tornado/web.py", line 1309, in _execute
result = self.prepare()
File "/var/folders/rf/97d0bl2n7ts4_h_gndf9wrmr0000gn/T/tmpD4IL5R/lib/python/tornado/web.py", line 1998, in prepare
raise HTTPError(self._status_code)
HTTPError: HTTP 404: Not Found

Any ideas ?

I've been also experiencing some problems with blank screens lately. Usually restarting the computer fixed it for me.

I tried, didn't work. Then it suddenly worked when I opened random projects. Just noticed that the server log window is returning 504. I also tried reinstalling Framer but no luck.

Oh wow. This is the internal web server not being cool. I will look into this right away. Keep sending info if you have.

Koen Bok

Is there info in Console.app too?

Gabriel Lovato

Ah, sorry, just left the office for the weekend! Will send more info if I can reproduce it at home, or on Monday

Ok I think I found the issue. It's very likely a unicode error, where anywhere in your paths are non ascii characters (üø¥ etc). I'll push a fix soon.

Gabriel Lovato

Hey Koen, I checked that I was'nt using a path with non-ascii characters, problem persists. Here's a screenshot of console.app, with the default framer file opened.

Okay, this seems to be a bug deep inside 10.3. It's all about that line "assertion failed ... libxpc.dylib". Googling for it will give you quite some users having the same problem across many different apps.

The most detailed I could find was this Transmission one: https://forum.transmissionbt.com/viewtopic.php?t=16519&start=30

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a good analysis of what is causing it, or a way to fix it. I'll have to dive a bit deeper.

Some things that did seem to fix the issue for some others:

- Remove the app with everything (prefs, cache, etc)
- Fix permissions with disk utils
- Reboot

Also, I wonder if this older build has the same problems for you: http://studio.update.framerjs.com/static/downloads/Framer%20Studio-1.11.85.zip

You can always find older builds at: http://studio.update.framerjs.com/archive/

Gabriel Lovato

Still trying the fixes, but indeed 1.11.85 works, while the next one 1.11.158 doesn't. Anyway huuuge thanks for all your help!

Hey one more thing. If you start the latest one, create a new project, could you send me the output of: Window > Server Log?

Gabriel Lovato

Here's the server Log, latest build on a fresh Mac OS user account

Ha, I actually found what's causing it. I'm behind a proxy at work. Adding 127.* to "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts & Domains" under Network Preferences did the trick.

Koen Bok

Ow wow yeah that makes total sense!

Koen Bok

That is great. I can see if I can get around that, or at least throw a warning.
