So... if a stock Sketch iPhone 5s artboard is 320 x 568, why doesn't Framer handle the 2x correctly? I have to say... after working at 1x and only exporting at 2x and 3x, my workflow has been WAY more performant. It's kind of a bummer to have to 2x everything just to work with Framer.

Seems to me it would be hard for Framer to know that what you are importing from Sketch is an iPhone mockup and it that it needs to be scaled to @2x. If it does this automatically for all imports, what about web imports ? You could just scale your artboard 200% in sketch before importing to Framer and then undo it once the import is finished...

...or Framer could have a 2x option on import similar to the way Skala handles output via their Sketch plugin.

Set the contentScale like this in Framer Framer.Device.contentScale = 2 and set the export size to 2x for your groups in Sketch.

I'm not sure if you guys are really considering the UX on the import feature correctly. Very likely your users are working at 1x. There is a very nice import menu in Framer where this setting can be specified. Why not save the user some pain?

Jordan Robert Dobson

I'm pretty sure it depends. So you work at 1x on a retina screen?

Noah Tsutsui

27" apple montor, so it's not retina.

I am with Noah. Our team only works in natural resolution (on all platforms). I often create another page in my sketch document where I scale all artboards to 200% before taking them into framer.
That is not great, but OK since the original designs don't work with framer anyways and I have to make specific changes when working with framer (layer naming, no alternate versions, etc)

Jens Nikolaus

No you don't, see my comment for example Johannes. It's even a snippet.

Nice, Jens! I really didn't expect framer to respect my export settings in Sketch. This is a cool workaround, just the hassle to set the 2x scaling for every group. This makes this whole thing work again
