OK got really stuck with this and need help please:

I took Ed Chao's messaging prototype, made it flexible for various screen sizes. Works fine in Framer Studio with various viewers, but problem is on real iPhone - when input field gets focus, it shifts weirdly somewhere to the middle of screen. All suggested solutions failed so far.

Can somebody help please?

You need a video of what you are seeing. I'm not getting any issues at all.

Does the whole screen move up or just that layer?

Josef Richter

https://www.dropbox.com/s/tkcuwqwz7of3isf/file%2001.04.15%2014%2010%2036.mov?dl=0 it whole screen goes up, not just they layer with the input. I guess it has to do something with position:fixed or apple's handling of inputs "auto-focus"..

Joey Lamelas

Hm... That's really strange. On my iPhone6 on Safari, the input field does not jump all the way to the top. I know that the keyboard pushes the entire screen up, but I don't know why the input field does that on your phone.

Jordan Robert Dobson

Hmmm. I don't see that at all. Is that a 6+?

Josef Richter

it's iPhone 6, not 6+. this is in Framelink, but it does the same in Frameless and Safari

Jordan Robert Dobson

Very very strange. I'm on a 6 and it's perfect.

Josef Richter

it does the very same on my iPad. Just to make sure we're all talking about the same: 1. I tap the input field, keyboard pops up and cursor starts blinking right above the keyboard as it should. 2. Once I start typing, the letters start showing up in the middle of the screen, rather that right above the keyboard. 3. Submitted message goes out of screen bounds. 4. When I hide they keyboard, everything goes back to normal. So the problem is there's a big gap between the input field and the keyboard when I start typing.. You're not getting that? Framer Studio Version 1.11.66 (925), iOS 8.2, OS X 10.10.3 beta.

Jordan Robert Dobson

Yep... we have the same device, OS and framer version... crazy.

Check out this video: http://jrdn.io/aTdh It's uploading.

I don't know if this will fix anything, but I noticed that you removed inputElement.focus(). What happens if you put it back in?

Jordan Robert Dobson

Joey Lamelas - Sounds like you are seeing what I see as well?

Josef Richter

Well fuck me running then. What kind of sorcery is this? :-(

Joey Lamelas

Jordan Robert Dobson I'm not seeing it, but I'm trying to figure out what's wrong! It's even stranger that it's doing that on both devices.

Joey Lamelas

Maybe the guys at Framer are pulling an April Fool's joke! ;)

ok, I desperately switched of wifi, and on LTE it started working correctly in Safari. still the same bug in Framelink/Frameless though. Weirdest fucking bug ever.
