what does ._prefer2d = true do ?
I googled it. but I only found mention of it on Koen's github.
(I'm looking at the examples page - Material Response
Basically it avoids any 3d transforms, disabling the gpu acceleration. You only need this in very specific scenarios if you want to force cpu rendering for example having a masking layer with rounded corners animate it's contents.
