Does anyone know why vanilla javascript does not work in framer studio ?

Ed Chao

it's not currently supported

Koen Bok

Yep, we chose CoffeeScript because it seemed to click better with people that were trying to learn Framer. I think that turned out to be a good call.

Stephen Crowley

I voted vanilla js when it was preposed but I was so wrong, coffeescript was absolutely the right choice.

Mike Chung

I like vanilla JS simply because it forces, me to keep JS across multiple things I do, Front End BackEnd Development, coffee script it seems to be hard to create structure. I could be wrong.

Koen, what do you think about supporting both down the road? For example, Codepen allows you to switch between the two. I'm sure there are bigger fish to fry at the moment, but it might be helpful.

Koen Bok

Supporting two languages is possible but makes everything a lot more complicated (including examples etc) so I'm going to try to avoid it.

Rasmus Andersson

FWIW I use Framer with JavaScript. Just not in Framer Studio, which is what we're really talking about here :)
