just getting started with Framer.a question that might seem very basic. Do I have to have my own server(where to upload the framer files) in order to see the prototype on mobile devices? what should I do to make the prototype page appear on my mobile phone?

Hi Ethan, there are multiple solutions, but one I use is to set up a local server on your machine (i.e. Macbook Pro) and access the html file through a local address (for this to work your devices must be connected to the same network).
I use BrowserSync on a daily basis (http://browsersync.io), and MAMP (http://www.mamp.info/en/) occasionally. I recommend looking into both

awesome! thanks for sharing!

No not at all! You can upload all the files say to Dropbox and open it from a mobile device. Or, I use Cactus + web browser to do it in real time.

Here's a few links that should help you:

Ethan Chiang Totally! Have fun with Framer. I very much enjoy it and I'm still an amateur.

Wow, unbelievable. Perfect timing. Framer Studio just released. Looks great also.

Just started trying out Framer today. I used to be a Actionscripter, that makes it easy for me to adapt the Javascript based Framer. looks great!

Is there anything extra you need to do to get this to work on iPhone/ iPad? I put it in a public dropbox folder and opened the index.html file in safari, but it's just blank.

No that should work. Anything in the console?

Nothing on the console.

Got a link I can look at?

Braden Hamm

Ok, now it says it can't find any of the .js files.

That's the link to download the file, not view it. To view the file, it should be inside the Public folder in Dropbox. Be aware, however, that Dropbox changed their policy on public folders (https://www.dropbox.com/help/16/en). If yours is disabled and you have a Pro or Business account, you can re-enable it and things should work fine.

That was the problem. It was already in a public folder, so I assumed when I copied the link, it was a public link. Couldn't figure out how to get a "public" link from their apps so I got it from the site and sent it to myself (hurry up continuity in iOS8 and Yosemite!)

It works now. Thanks

ok...now I'm getting exactly the same screen like Braden. can't seem to directly view the index.html page on my phone...
