Howdy! Awhile ago I posted an module I built that powered React-style application state in Framer. Since then, I've used it for a few prototypes and made a few improvements to the API. Get the module on Github and read the original explanation here: https://blog.framer.com/react-style-state-machine-for-framer-e1c4e7032e65
Could be helpful.
Is the state inheritable from parent layer to children? And is it possible to change another layer's state?
This sounds very useful indeed. I've been looking for a proper state machine that lets me create a model to describe the different states of a UI. Framer's integrated states are not really useful anymore once your prototype gets more complex. I'll give your module a try. Have you thought of creating an npm module?
Maybe you could add some more sophisticated/complex examples that illustrate the machine in various states? It's a bit hard to get into atm
