hey folks, i'm working on this video cross fade prototype and i'm having trouble trying to play two instances of yourtube video player in framer at the same time. It works (occasionally) on my computer but when previewing in safari one video stops playing stops the other. I'm using this for quickness: https://github.com/terikon/framer-youtube-player. Any ideas if this is possble in mobile safari? Thanks!

Hi everyone!! I made this fun Travel app onboarding for our latest release in which we gave Framer a completely fresh look. If you want, you can take a look at the code to see how it works. Or just play with the interactions for inspiration. — https://dribbble.com/shots/3468934-Travel-App-Onboarding Some cool things it has. - Dynamic soft-light shadows - Parallax animations - Animated illustrations - Pagination - Timed animation sequences - Functions - Callbacks - And more ;)

Built this rebound to @Ramotion's awesome UI concept in FramerJS. Using the phone's acceleration event handler to drive the position of the various layers. Rebuilt parts of the animation using their original MP4. Also used Lottie workaround to generate the JSON animations. Play with it on your phone here: https://dribbble.com/shots/3467647-3D-UI Cheers! #Framer20k

Tried adding "*" or "-" to PSD group name following instructions from https://framer.com/getstarted/import/ "If the children don’t have to be selectable in Framer, you can flatten the group. Add * to the end of a group name and it will become a single layer without children. To exclude a group entirely, add a - to its name." Does this only work with Sketch, not with Photoshop?

I'm getting stuck on creating basic 'pages' from a (rather large) sketch import. Just moving around in them would be nice already... Any tips would be appreciated on how to do this, as apparently I'm not "getting it" after multiple tries. I've attached a sketch of the sort of pages i want to import in Framer. Basically I'm not sure which component I would best use and in what combination. I've tried using a page component, but when I reach the scrollable page it scrolls immediately to the middle. Do I need to use a scrollComponent just for that one page (and how) ? # Wrap the imported content layers pageComp = PageComponent.wrap(sketch.$001) page1= sketch.$002a pageComp.addPage(page1, "right") page2= sketch.$003 pageComp.addPage(page2, "right")

Hi everyone. I am trying to create a multidimensional array that in it's first point, uses the content of another array. I'm using .concat and the function works but the result is that the whole of the original array is copied as one long string. What I need is for it to create comma separated values so I can choose [0][1] and display the value I.e. "1" Thoughts? Thanks!

Trying to wrap my head around how to best manage states for a prototype controlled by a keyboard. So far I've been trying to have one main control loop i.e. window.onkeydown = (eventKeydown) -> #WATCH KEYDOWN switch eventKeydown.keyCode when 39 #right arrow print "right arrow" when 37 #left arrow print "left arrow" when 38 #up arrow print "up arrow" when 40 #down arrow print "down arrow" but managing it becomes somewhat complex when I have to track state of of a variety layers which have different states and behave differently do the same keyboard input based on their states etc. Ideally I'd like layers to listen to the keyboard events and respond to them according with behavior defined on the layer level (not somewhere in the main loop) Example (made up code) layerA = new someLayer if keyCode is 39 then right() if keyCode is 37 then left() layerB = new someOtherLayer if keyCode is 40 then down() if keyCode is 38 then up() etc. I can express this conceptually - can someone help me to put this into the code or advise on best practices for building keyboard controlled, multi-state prototypes? Thanks a lot!

Hi there, I’ve just started my first Framer project. Now I’m struggling with an onClick-Event behavior I don’t understand. There is a layer with an onClick-Event and a child layer with an onClick-Event too. However, the onClick-Event of the child layer also triggers the event of the parent layer. Could someone give me a hint how to prevent this behavior? 🙂

Is it possible to set multiple properties of an imported sketch layer without naming it each time? Been searching the internets but can't find an answer!

Hi guys, I've been experimenting with Framer's VR Component but there's something I keep running into. I'm prototyping a VR interface where a certain item gets larger upon looking at it. This would mean that during the animation it overlaps some elements next to it. However no matter what I do the item keeps 'scaling' behind the other elements. I've tried a ton of stuff by changing the index of the layers, playing around with elevation/heading etc but I can't get it fixed. If I swap the animated layer to a layer thats previously 'on top', it also gets pushed back during the animation. Here's a quick prototype that shows the issue. If you look at the blue layer it gets bigger, but only behind the other layers. I want it to be on top of the rest. What can I do to fix this?

Hi all, I have a question about Flows. I was wondering if it's possible to transition to a previous screen in the flow directly. For instance: flow.showNext(layerA) flow.showNext(layerB) flow.showNext(layerC) flow.showPrevious(layerA) or perhaps perform a showNext but indicate the next screen's direction for the transition. I'm in a very long and complex flow as of now and want to avoid showPrevious(animation:false) for x-amount of times. Any help? flow.transition with a custom transition didn't help me since the screen I wanted to transition to is already located somewhere awkwardly in my flow component.

Feature request: ad-hoc layer creation from dragged bitmaps Use case: Sometimes, I have many artboards of material in Sketch. I'd like to try something very, very quickly without going through Import. Because I want only a couple of layers to deal with in Framer. For comparison, Origami Studio lets me drag in an image directly from the Sketch UI to the Origami layer list/canvas, where I'm able in to start building up some logic. In my mind, Framer would support drag and drop of bitmap images. When the image is dropped, the file is added to the project, and some code is inserted so as to draw the image on the canvas. If I'm missing an easier/existing way to do this, please let me know.

I feel Framer would be an invaluable tool for user-testing on Desktop, but unfortunately its lack of a full-screen mode makes it not completely usable. I wish there should be a easier way to toggle the device image and expand the prototype width to 100% of the browser window. I have tried many different methods, even custom device but nothing works properly. Any idea on how to do it? Thanks in advance guys! 😉

I noticed that when importing from Sketch one can add states, animation, events etc. by ctrl+clicking a layer in the layer tree. That's nice. Is it not possible to do the same in the preview window? (I can only see x, y, width and height of the ctrl+clicked layer)

Hi Frameristas, I'm looking to run a week-long workshop / immersion learning boot camp to get my team of 9 designers onboarded with Framer. Most of them haven't used Framer extensively but are super excited to learn it. I'm hoping to help them get over that initial learning curve and feel comfortable building comprehensive prototypes. What are some tips and advice for this bootcamp? Are there any good resources to help me prepare 5 days of material? Thanks y'all!

Hey Framerers, Last week we released an update to our Cloud Project interface. Since then, we’ve had lots of constructive feedback on some of the changes, mainly centered around having control over the new sidebar. As a general rule, we ship as soon as a feature is finished. While we may not always get it right the first time, we do have a great community who always holds us true to our mission. Thanks to your feedback, we’ve pushed an improved version of Cloud Project, one that makes for a much better user experience. Now, when you open a project’s Share Settings, you can choose to hide sensitive parts, like version history or the download option. Most notably, you can now also hide the sidebar altogether, a feature we built to encourage focus during user research sessions and client pitches. I can’t stress enough how much we value your feedback. Go to https://framer.cloud to see the latest changes. Thanks!

Another question : Is it possible to make a text act like a button and not like a "text"? Like say in a menu, I have text and I want it to do something when onMouseOver, and it does (change color in my case) but... The cursor transforms like it's selectable text and not like it's a link/button (like with the hand). :)

Hi everybody, it might sound silly, it might not. I know that framer is for a fact based for mobile device interactions, but what about web design? I mean, the problem I am facing with import is that whenever I import artboard of a desktop screen i see all the layers imported on the layers panel, but the canvas itself is blurry and impossible to scroll down or up. I've tried both importing @1x and @2x too, but it's still blurry no matter what I do. So my two questions are: 1) How do I import web design into framer correctly? 2) Do I have to enable scrolling of imported desktop artboard manually? 3) And actually This will be my third question - is framer any good working with website design interactions? Thanks in advance, just keep in mind that I am super green in framer, haha. Cheers guys!

Hi guys, Ever since the last update, I haven't been able to control the zoom in the preview window. It automatically sets itself to "fit" and doesn't give me the option to choose another setting. Hi guys. I'm trying to have an array of 4 similar squares and add 4 similar circles in each one of them. I was wondering if you could help me make each square a different bg color, and add an event so that when my mouse is over a square, the circle in the middle does something. Here's where I'm at right now, as you see, only one circle is responding to the mouseOver, and it's responding to all event on all square, and not the one square it is part of :

I am working on creating a Todo list animation. I want the top three list items (Task1, Task2, Task3) to be draggable. However, I only want the user to be able to drag Task2 once Task1 has been completed (swiped to the right). The same goes for Task3. This means unless Task1 has been swiped off the screen, I want Task2 and Task3 to be draggable.horizontal = false. To do this I thought I could set a variable "firstBoxMoved" and set it equal to False. Then when Task1 is moved off the screen, set the variable to True. Then from there I could use a conditional (if..) to check whether or not that was true to set Task2 and Task3 draggable.horizontal to either true or false. I have printed out the firstBoxMoved before and after I swipe Task1 off the screen and it shows that it is changing so I don't know why the conditional will work. If anyone can help it would be appreciated. I am new to Framer but it looks like an awesome community, Thanks. My prototype: https://framer.cloud/gezbf This prototype idea is from Noah Levin on SkillShare.

Hi all. I'm trying to animate a layer from 90 degrees to 0 degrees. See the image in the attachments. Anyways I wrote the following script but can't seem to get it to work; https://framer.cloud/Hcxrd It only animates a little bit and after that the layer inside the animate function becomes some weird numbers like 268298.4. The angle itself goes all the way from 90 to 0 perfectly. Not sure why this is happening and would love to hear what I'm missing.

Basic question that should be obvious but I'm over thinking this. I have a flow component. Within that component I want to switch states for a layer. Hey framer folks, I'm using the VR Component and I keep running into this issue when I animate objects using their heading. When I've tried this the elevation seems to change, and the object seems to be rotating. If you watch how the object animates around the 360˚ space, it kind of looks like the elevation is changing following a curve rather than animating across at a consistent latitude. Has anybody else come across this issue, or have a fix for it?

I tried using's Pete Schaffner's solution (https://github.com/peteschaffner/framer-googlefonts) But I've run into a known issue. undefined is not an object (evaluating 'window.WebFont.load') Anyone know if there's a way to get this work, or another solution? The problem is reported on the project's github page but not addressed.

Hi guys. Framer noob here :) Can anyone please heIp me understand how to listen to a specific "currentPage" (page activation) in a PageComponent? page.on "change:currentPage" just listen to the page change, not the current "activated" page, maybe there're other syntaxes? functions?... (please forgive my noobness) Here's my example : I have a PageComponent named myPage, and would like to assign a certain page of the myPage (when activated) to trigger another "thing", say an animation, or another page activation, or a state, or whatever... I know how to listen to Events like onTap, onScroll, onSwipe, on Move... etc, but I really would like to have a certain page "activation" to BE my Event? Does it make sense? Lol Hope you guys can help me figure it out. Cheers ;)

It seems there is a problem with the newer version on Framer Cloud, when I try to open any of the links on mobile and add it to the home screen as a web app on iOS or Android it longer enables full screen mode. But as soon as I try this with a link from the older share.framer it seems to work perfectly. Also if I try this using the local version over my network it also works. Only links that are from cloud.framer fail. Anyone know whats going on and how to fix it?

Hello community, I wanted to share this one for a while now. It's an evolution of the magnifying glass prototype I posted a few weeks ago. To make it work on touch devices (Windows 10 tablet) I had to resort to some drastic measures I'm not too happy with, but it works. Any suggestions for improvements are appreciated! And of course a big thanks to the community for all the great examples I could make use of! Click/Tap and immediately drag your cursor/finger anywhere on the image to set start and end positions. The distance is measured and converted to millimeters for a 13" MacBook Pro from 2011, because I can't access the device dpi on runtime. This was a proof of concept for a diagnostic imaging software. #Framer20k And yes, the image is a Transistor wallpaper, because I love all the games by Supergiant Games. Looking forward to the next one 🤗

Hi everyone, I've been using Framer without the Studio IDE, with plain JS and no CoffeeScript. This started by mere curiosity and because I wanted to run Framer on Windows. I'm taking notes of this process and keeping this repo updated: https://github.com/72/Framer-js-notebook This is clearly not for everyone, but if you're comfortable with Framer and want to try it with plain JS (and/or on Windows), give it a chance. Could anybody recommend some good advanced tutorials and explanations? I know a good amount of basic Framer stuff like moving layers around and listening for events. But I want to start learning more complex stuff. I've been opening example files to break down how things are done but certain things are hard to analyze without explanation. Like this, Utils.modulate(xPos, [(i - 1) * breakPoint, i * breakPoint], [0, 1], true).

so I'm a bit new to framer, but I was wondering what more complicated flows look like in terms of file organization. For example if you can prototype an entire app's flows, do you still have to do it in one file? or can you split up an app into "login flow," "transaction flow," "edit profile flow" etc and have all of these files interact with each other in one prototype? from what i can see, the only option with having separate files is having them operate independently. this is making me think that framer is probably best suited for smaller interactions instead of larger scale prototypes.

Question: How do we access a Spring curve's Tension, Friction, and Velocity values in the animation properties panel (for rapidly trying out those values)? Framer's "Introducing Auto-Code Animation" VIDEO shows the animation properties inspector panel that has sliders for a Spring curve's Tension, Friction, and Velocity values. That looked great because it let you quickly try out values and see their preview. But when my animation properties panel does not have sliders for those parameters. How do I access them? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYwIjaIPxgU

This concept links two PageComponents together. Every other example I could find for this on the web all assumed that the pages would all be uniform width. In my case, since they are text strings, they were not all the same width! So, although it's a bit ugly in the code, I thought I'd share in case anybody else has the same issue. Here's an implementation of linking two PageComponents when one has variable width pages:

Hello, everyone! I'm trying to follow this example to place markers onto a map from Mapbox, but it just isn't quite working out. https://www.mapbox.com/blog/power-framer-prototype-with-mapbox/ I've tried looking for other examples online, but nothing seems to work. I'm always able to get the map up, but no success with placing a marker. I also tried inputting exact coordinates to see if I could just place a marker, but no go on that either. I suspect that I must be missing something due to inexperience with Framer and coding in general. Maybe your eyes can catch what I'm doing incorrectly? Thanks for any advice you can give me!

I'm trying to follow an example with pageComponent that has indicators switching at the bottom to show the currently selected screen in a carousel. But I can't figure out why I have an error here. The weird thing is that if I just declare something from the array like: allIndicators[3].opacity = 1.0 It works. That makes me think there's something wrong with the way I define the variable "current" since it errors when I use it as an index number in the array. Any help is super appreciated!

I've noticed an odd behavior when importing flattened groups from Sketch into Framer. It seems that if you flatten a group by that only has groups has its children and no individual child layers, then any transparent pixels within are turned white. By "flatten a group", I'm referring to the ability to add an asterisk at the end of a group name in Sketch before importing to Framer. Is this intended behavior or some sort of bug? I've attached a screenshot of my layers in Sketch and the resulting Framer prototype.

I have a 3 page Prototype made with a Page Component. On 2 of the 3 pages, I’m using Scroll Components. I’ve encountered this before, my problem is that when you scroll down on one of the two views with a scroll component, you can kinda slide the view around and indirectly toggle the other views. Make sense? As I scroll down, I can accidentally see the other views. It will shift and shimmy shimmy. Hate that. Help? page = new PageComponent width: Screen.width height: Screen.height scrollHorizontal: true scrollVertical: false #page 1 firstScreen = new Layer width: page.width height: page.height parent: page.content backgroundColor: "#232627" firstScreenScroll = new ScrollComponent width: Screen.width height: Screen.height parent: firstScreen scrollHorizontal: false picture_group1 = new Layer width: 1242 height: 3285 image: "images/3.png" parent: firstScreenScroll.content

Hi, there! I’m using flexbox in my prototype for some dynamic grid. Everything works, but it’s causing one issue. Since all layers are positioned through flexbox, the x value of the layer itself in Framer remains 0. Is there any chance to update this? Right now I can’t locate any layer. MODULE: InputField Class **UPDATE** Use this module now: http://jrdn.io/fcG1 OLD Demo & Module Post: http://jrdn.io/eLin This module allows you to easily add text & date inputs to your prototypes. You can also easily listen for onFocus, onBlur and onInput events by providing a function for the input to call to get the values and the input field involved. Valid input types with keyboard support are: text, email, number, url, tel, password, search, time, month, date and datetime-local You’re also able to set the placeholder and placeholderFocus values, a default value, maxLength, fontSize, indent and autoCapitalize properties. Here’s a quick usage example: searchField = new InputField width: Screen.width height: 132 fontSize: 48 indent: 48 color: “black” backgroundColor: “white” placeHolder: “Search…” onInputFunction: myOnInputFunction Here’s a more advanced usage example: ageField = new InputField name: “ageField” width: Screen.width type: “number” height: 132 fontSize: 48 indent: 48 color: “black” backgroundColor: “white” placeHolder: “Enter Your Age Please” placeHolderFocus: “Your Age” maxLength: 2 onInputFunction: myOnInputFunction onFocusFunction: onInputFocus onBlurFunction: onInputBlur I hope this helps you in your prototyping! Hey friends ❤️ sometimes I find it challenging to explain exactly why it's worth investing time in creating or implementing a particular animation. I've found this simple framework helpful for explaining to stakeholders why certain animations are meaningful, and for rallying support, and I tried to summarize it in a post: http://tobiasahlin.com/blog/meaningful-motion-w-action-driven-animation/ - I've found it helpful in my work over here at Minecraft. Hello everyone, how come I can't find many examples of Framer prototypes of longer, more complex app flows? (eg. 7+ screens with more complexity, an interactive prototype version of an app). I've been spending a lot of the past month learning Framer and I love it. But ultimately, my goal is to produce prototypes that allow me to do user testing in better conditions that Flinto/Principle or Marvel allow me to do. I.e. I want to give a prototype to a test user and let them use it, without guidance, to accomplish a goal they have. I'm hoping that Framer is the tool that'd allow me (once I have the skills) to quickly put together complex views and longish flows, so I can do more reliable user testing that I could do with other techniques. But I haven't yet seen any example of something lime an end-to-end fully interactive app flow done with Framer, and I'm imagining that actually, doing that in Framer would be too complex / time consuming to be worthwhile vs briefing an engineer to prototype in XCode (or learning Swift + XCode myself). I'd love your thoughts, or any example you could point me to. Do you know anyone who uses Framer to do prototypes like I'm looking to do?

Hello friends, I'm currently trying to build a microinteraction where, on a force touch, a button that behaves like an FB chat head will pop into view, and depending on where the user drops this chat head (either the top or bottom half of the screen), the view will begin continuously scrolling in that direction. (It's a lot like the behavior of your mouse on desktop, if you middle click on a long page) The chat head hangs around so that the user can tap it, speeding up the scroll to 2x or 4x. However, I'm really new to this stuff. I got the ScrollComponent wrapped around my content, and have (very lightly) modified Marc Krenn's code (v2 here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/framerjs/permalink/756040691189671/) to get a chat head floating around, but I'm really unsure where to go from here. I'm thinking I need to add a state for the chat head at 0% scale, then another at 100%, and animate the state on force touch, but how do I make it appear under the user's finger? Also, is there a way to continuously scroll in one direction after an event? I'm struggling. 😖 Thanks for your time.

ToggleComponent - Visually toggle features of your prototype https://framer.cloud/DSmiA/ • Saves a boolean true/false-"state" directly in the object (accessiable via toggle.state). This "state" can be used to turn features of your prototype on or off. • This state can by changed either by overwriting toggle.state or by using the toggle.toggle()-method. • toggle.onChange "state", -> can be used to trigger actions whenever the toggle's state was changed. • Optional: ToggleComponent can automatically animate between two customizable layer-states. Custom animation options can be set as well. Another, waayyy cooler, module is coming later this week (y). Prepare ya z-properties ... ;) #toggle #switch #component

Hi Everyone, I'm working on a prototype that uses the keyboard to control a prototype. I'm using: document.addEventListener 'keydown', (event) -> if event.keyCode is 48 to listen for a key command and fire if the ones I specify is typed. Only problem is, my mac makes a sound every time I hit a key, even if its one of the keys that's included in my if statement. (it's the sound applications make if you press a key it doesn't have an action for, like an error type sound). My prototype should play sounds I've created when I hit those keys, so unfortunately I can't just mute the volume on my mac.

As a means to learn Framer I recreated an iOS app called Rise. I dug the way it uses swipe gestures and ambient feedback to setup an alarm. I ended up altering the way you set and unset the alarm. I felt the original was not discoverable. Quick question guys, I ended up faking the time as it adjust. I wrote a function for the hours that had multiple conditions to set the hours and used a Utils.cycle to animate through an array for the minutes. By no means accurate. I originally tried using Utils.modulate to count down the minutes and hours but I got floating point numbers. Tried looking for a script that would cycle through time but couldn't find anything. If anyone know how to have Utils.modulate cycle through a range of time please let me know or if I could have it cycle through a setup array. Check it out. Also, when viewing it natively on my iphone the onTouchStart and onTouchEnd don't execute the code. It works fine when viewing on the browser. Anyone know why this is occuring?

Hi, everyone! I got a problem with this simple chatbox design. There should be 2 scroll interfaces: one is the scroll layer in chatlist group; the other is the scroll1 layer in chatbox group. I used Sketch first and the imported them into Framer. So I was trying to wrap() the scroll layer and scroll1 layer respectively and set them to 2 different scrollComponent. The chat list worked as I expected, but the messages in the chatbox disappeared after being wrapped. I have been working on this for 100 years and found most solutions online were about same scrolling elements, not the same issue. Any good ideas? Thanks!

Hi all. Recently I had a couple o' evenings to spare and wanted to upgrade my Framer skills. This made me start working on a prototype in which you can toggle between a horizontal and vertical list view. It was kinda tricky since requestAnimationFrame doesn't play nicely with other animations in Framer but in the end I got it to work. Thanks for all the input Jonas Treub, George Kedenburg III, Steve Ruiz! https://framer.cloud/FMZIn/ Everything in the prototype is build using framer's new text layers and external images. So easy to update or exchange for a different app. For now I replicated Apple Music for a bit with some disco tunes. Cause everyone knows, you can never have enough disco!

Hey! I want to have a range that defines scrolling speed, but the scroll itself happens automatically. It scrolls by default, user only can define the speed of the scroll based on some input. What would be the best way to go about this? I don't know the height of the content.

Hi Ima bit new to Framer, and the end product seems to fit my Flash background but what job role would you apply to using that software. Is it UX designer? Looking up the tool on the job site indeed didn't get much hits however doing animation and interaction is a passion and the next careers I want to change to. Thanks in advance?

Is it possible to programmatically create states using string literals? I would like to loop through my Sketch layers and create a state that has the name of the layer. But this example doesn’t work – I guess it’s because I can't use a string as a reference to a state? How would you go about this? https://framer.cloud/RzbBt

Can someone explain what I am doing wrong here? I have a layer positioned at Screen.height and I want to animate it up when I click on an image and then take it back when I click on the back icon. The problem that I am facing is that it works if I change the initial position to y: 0 through the back icon but doesn't work otherwise. I would appreciate if someone points me to a source or explains the right way to do it. A sample scenario is below layer1 = new Layer backgroundColor: "000000" width: Screen.width height: Screen.height layer2 = new Layer width: Screen.width height: Screen.height x: Screen.x y: Screen.height layer1.on Events.Click, -> layer2.animate properties y: 0

Could you guys please help me find the bug in this prototype? Basically every time I type a message into the input and hit Enter, something fails and the whole prototype reloads, without giving me any useful error message. Any hints pleeease? Tried to trace it down, but it probably requires someone more experienced... Thank you!!

Anyone else finds the new preview docking/jumpy preview window annoying? I work in a setup with multiple monitors and it just keeps jumping around on new code refresh - ie if if drag it down to laptop window (monitor #1) on code changes it comes back to the main monitor (#2) where Framer is and resizes. I spent much time now fighting the stickines of the preview window, wish there is a way to disable the new "behavior" and just do docking / undocking manually. Also on a 13" Macbook try to de-attach the preview window and drag it onto a new space. Impossible. Is there a way to revert back to old manual preview docking behavior Koen Bok?

Hey framers, is it possible to drag elements of page within a page component? I've got a page component with several pages, and each page has a card positioned at the bottom of a page that I want user to be able to drag upward if they so choose. Is this possible?

I'm new to Framer and looking for examples of interactive diagrams that expands(changes shape or lengthens) to show more information. E.g. expanding history timelines. Would be super grateful if anyone can point me to some resources or sample code! Edit: Essentially I want to learn how to manipulate the length and direction of a line, and move down groups of text+icons.

Hello Framers, Can anybody help me ? I’ve created a framer project where I do a resize of a layer to a smaller size and then enable drag on it. vidoperator = new Layer width: Framer.Device.screen.width height: 600 borderWidth: 2 borderColor: "C30045" borderRadius: 5 parent: videopage y: 35 vidoperator.states.small = x: 192 y: 716 scale: 0.4 vidoperator.onTap -> #print "Tapped" if vidoperator.states.current.name == "small" makebigger() vidoperator.draggable.enabled = false else if vidoperator.states.current.name == "default" makesmaller() I had a problem that when the drag event ended, it also generated a “tap”. I solved this by adding to onDragStart that I stopped listening to “tap” events (similar to in the documentation for click events). vidoperator.onDragStart -> #print "Drag started, vid state currently set at " + vidoperator.states.current.name vidoperator.off(Events.Tap) Once it is finished dragging I want to re-enable it, but it gives me an error: [framer.js] Error: Layer.on needs an event listener vidoperator.onDragEnd -> #print "Drag ended, vid state currently set at " + vidoperator.states.current.name vidoperator.on(Events.Tap) In the documentation I can find info for Click, but I don’t understand wat’s going on with clickHandler or how this will apply to Tap. From the docs in the example : layerA = new Layer layerA.name = "Layer A" clickHandler = (event, layer) -> print "Clicked", layer.name layerA.on(Events.Click, clickHandler) layerA.off(Events.Click, clickHandler) Can anybody help me to understand what is going on and what I need to do to enable "tap" again ? Thanks.

Hello, I'm working on making a layer drag enabled, but only when it is small. Like a chatvideo window being dragged around on screen, only when it is small. Then, in the new location, when you tap on it, it grows again to full screen. The problem I'm having is that when the drag is finished, the onTap event is generated as well. Has anybody experienced the same behaviour ?

Hi everyone, I'm slowly getting into framer and am wondering how I can show an element based on a certain section (y range)...? I've been able to react to up and down scrolling to achieve something like a hiding navigation bar on scroll down but now I'd like to scroll a while, then show something, have it still visible while scrolling on and then, after a defined point let it animate out again… I can't seem to find anything on that - could someone point me in a direction? That would be great. Thank you in advance.

Hi again. Can anyone explain how can we listen to an event on a state like I have a state called layerA.states.show and I animate to it by layer.states.animate "show" then I want to know when the state has been switched to 'show' I would like to trigger layerA.states.stateSwitch "default"

Hi! I'm working on a prototype that requires importing an npm module called "node-record-lpcm16." When I simply import it using the syntax from the Framer docs (https://framer.com/docs/#modules.modules), there are no errors. However, when I attempt to actually use the module, it gives me the following error in framer.modules.js: "TypeError: spawn is not a function. (In 'spawn(cmd, cmdArgs, cmdOptions)', 'spawn' is undefined)" When I look at the code, spawn is clearly defined at the top as: var spawn = require('child_process').spawn Can anyone help with this? I did find an old post on which someone commented that not all npm modules are compatible with Framer, so I'm wondering if I should just scrap the idea now and find a different way to prototype my project. I've attached some images of my code to hopefully clarify what I'm trying to convey (I can't share my entire project, unfortunately). Thanks in advance!

Hey Framers, I just wanted to share an early iteration of a new prototype. I wrote this in literally 20 minutes. It’s quick code but it works and is properly optimized for iPhone7+ devices only. So if you’re using anything else, please view on your computer. I probably should have used states and will likely revise it. But the overall interaction is there. https://framer.cloud/Irnxd If you like it please give it some love on Dribbble. I just added VideoLayer to Framer. It allows you to easily add a video to a layer and play, pause, loop or skip to a point. It's also easy to get events like progress, start and ended. The VideoLayer can do anything a normal layer can do. So you can animate it or apply any effect like blur or sepia. I'll add official documentation soon, for now you can check the example below for basic usage. You will need the latest framer.js to use it, you can download it on the builds page or select "File > Update Framer" from within Framer Studio. Here is a basic example:

for i of $.boxesLoading.children $.boxesLoading.children[i].opacity = 0 $.["Box#{i}"].states["state#{i}"] = opacity: 0.4*i So I am trying to write a loop in which a new fixed state is made for every layer in an array, and each item is named like Box1, Box2 etc. So the layer name assigned to a state must change based on “Box” + i. Not sure how to write this in a way that works. Any ideas? :)

Hi all. I'm changing the parent of a draggable layer when it's dropped into a drop target. 1. It jumps to the (x, y) position relative to the new parent. I'm using get ScreenFrame -> change parent -> setScreen Frame to avoid this. Is there a better way to do this? 2. Can we set attributes like draggable.enabled or draggable.constraints in layer states? If yes, what's the syntax? Thanks!

Question: Can you point me to a resource which shows how to use framer to construct choreography-type animations which usually take advantage of a TIMELINE, as shown in the Material Design spec? I'm pretty new to Framer and could really benefit from an UP-TO-DATE resource showing how to construct a choreography like that. So far I've found that most of the resources show Framer code and techniques which are no longer valid, such as how most of them show the now "Classic" Spring model instead of the newer Spring model. I've also found that the Framer IDE only exposes SOME of the Spring parameters (Damping), while other parameters have to be stated in code (such as the Spring's "mass" and "velocity"). So between the out-of-date resources and the fact that the IDE displays some, but not all of the animation parameters, I'm having trouble finding a good resource for understanding the best way to construct this choreography animation. Thanks!

Update: I solved it - see my comment explaining. Original Question: I've started using the GreenSock GSAP animation library in Framer. I've successfully used GSAP to animate a native Framer layer's style properties. Now, when GSAP's animation completes, I want to switch the layer to a different Framer state (so later I can use logic which checks to see which state the layer is in). So, per GreenSock's instructions, I utilized its onComplete callback function and in that I switch the state. The problem is that it is creating an infinite loop and thus a stack overflow. Can you tell me how to correct this?

How to get a new line in a TextLayer: I have had the issue of not being able to get new lines in text layers. I noticed Gilaki Hamoen also asking about this recently. I saw suggestions to use \r but that didn't seem to be working for me. I'm not really sure why this works (the Framer crew probably does) but if you just add the text you want with the "html" property instead of the "text" property you can add new lines with <br>. All the same properties you use to edit the text seem to work as well. Check it out:

Hey hey. does the parent layer always listen the events happened on its sublayers? I create a simple scene to demonstrate this problem. There are three layers, layer “grandPa” is parent of the “Pa”, which is parent of “son”. When the “pa” is taped, “grandPa” also reflects this event. If “son” is taped, both “pa”and “grandPa” do sth, that however supposed to be happened only if I click on themselves. Thanks for any help!

There is increasing demand in the market in companies such as Apple, Dropbox, Google and more for user experience writers. (UX writers) But why? Well, our digital products have a story to be told. Sharing it with our users could give us better conversion/retention results. Walt Disney, for example, knew that The best way to give his audience positive experiences is by telling a story. Hi everybody, AirBnb released their React Sketch.app open source library that allows to write React components that renders into Sketch Documents. Would something be possible with Framer? Long story short; who is open for a hackathon to see if inclusion of UI framework is possible? Long version; I really miss the presence of reusable UI-components. It doesn't make sense to me to write all the logic for (radio-)buttons, checkboxes, inputs, textareas and so on. Principle 2.0 has support for defining components which can switch state by triggered events. So they are like objects as in Sketch. The symbioses of an UI framework with Framer, with somekind of templating-system, would be reusable and saves a lot of codewriting. Don't get me wrong all transistions and animations are silky smooth and enhance user experience. I'm playing with the Idea of choosing Twitter Bootstrap or Justinmind Proto tool over Framer cause of lack of components. Justinmind has graphical expression builder so prototype behave differently on controls (components) assigned or predefined values. Components are reusable Objects with embedded states. Yes that's awesome! But I still like the editor of Framer. Coding logic with makes it much more versatile then an expression builder. What do you guys thinks of some Hackathon to find out the viability of including a UI framework with templating capabilities with Framer? Roger out and cheers, Raymond Ps. I'm on vacation in Indonesia and Malaysia so I won't be online often. You can send me an email though; hello{at}myradon{dot}nl

Hey guys. Is there a way to use a specific state change as an event to trigger states changes to several other objects? Things is, I'm experimenting with making a resume in Framer. The different subsections consist of cards stacking on top of each other as the user clicks through. Works fine. But I can't seem to figure out how to bring the cards beneath forward in the stack when the card in front is removed. Hey everyone! I have an array of cards and I'd like to use a button event to add another card to the existing array. What's the best way to do this?

Weird bug. It still says v89 is the newest version even though it's been May 31st for several hours already. ⏰

Hey everyone. We have been working on something really big for almost a year, and we can’t wait to share it with you all, because I think it will change the way you think about design and code (again). Check the full teaser at framer.com We ship the new Framer next week, on May 31st. See you then and any help with spreading the word is appreciated :-)

I updated to 9.0 but now I'm getting prompted to signup. How can I bypass this? I bought and registered a new license last month...

Great new release! Amazing to see at what speed you guys keep releasing new stuff! Bug/featurerequest; It is very easy (at least for me) to scroll my prototype (as a whole) out of focus and then very hard to find it back due to the lack of scroll-indicators in the design canvas. Is there a way to reset the canvas to a zoomsetting where it fits the whole prototype? (Or maybe just add those scroll-indicators?)

More a question towards the Framer team: My team-leader bought a framer monthly license for me, but I typed my personal emailadress into the new framer. Because it asked me to active framer again. Does this now have any effects towards the license?

Is there a way to resize the device screens in Framer to fit the size of my design file? I've been using some of the default Sketch artboard sizes but they're usually too small for the iMac and Macbook mockups so I just end up having to use the canvas option.

Ok. One more bug, most serious one. I tried importing from Sketch, the process seemed to take way longer than expected. Activity manager was showing that both Sketch and Framer were not responsive. I attempted to force stop one, and it resulted in a kernel panic :D

Hi! I'm trying to use modules to create pages of my prototype so that I can use them in a flow component (this probably isn't the best use of a module). This doesn't seem to work as the flow component expects a layer to be passed through. I'm trying to prevent myself from having a massive code file with all the pages in. Does anyone know a way around this? Thanks!

Is there anyway to work with a concept of styles or symbols - any repeating parent shape or style? (in the new designer)

Is there a way to edit and animate Text properties that were created in Design? I can only reach the Text properties when they are created in “Code” as Text Layers. Amazing release btw!!! Framer FTW!

Sorry, question, little confused. Sometimes I have Objects that are offscreen and then based on an event a Y property value will change to bring the element on screen. How do I manage this in the new design view?

Hi, is it possible to change the direction of a SliderComponent and also the height of the fill to match the knob?

Hi guys, is there a way to mirror an ipad/iphone prototype with usb instead of the usual wifi mirror? I'm in a company that I can't get the notebook + devices at the same network at the moment. My current solution is connecting both at my personal hotspot...

Are there any examples of display/reveal while onDrag? For example, while dragging a SliderComponent knob it reveals the SliderComponent fill.

Ok. Everyone is getting excited here but I will write things that are not that great in the new version. - No export functions for icons. SVG icons, don’t get placed in the images folder. - Some weird Vekter folder? Also images get some 30+ random chars name, not their original names. - Minor usability issues like no shortcut to rename layers. - Not possible to parent new coded layers to design(mode)layers, Getting: variable not found error. Not sure what the new link between design and code is, since designed layers can’t be targeted. I was expecting that code is created for any Design layers? - It would be nice to make a function to target Design objects/groups and replicate them. Doesn’t seem possible for now. - Making a custom canvas is buggy. Will not set automatically when reloading. - Sketch files made for iPhone 7 at 2x will not import correctly. And since custom Canvas is broken, the sketch design is hardly usable. Will not bother converting tens or hundreds of sketch artboards to 1x, just so I can use them in Framer(tried it with the scale tool but I have to fix a lot of errors with symbols). That’s crazy. - It should be possible to at least sync the Sketch artboards with the Design artboards. Will treat current version as partially broken or a beta version released to early.

Does anybody have experience with the VR component? I want to be able to add layers from images imported from Figma or Sketch, and it just keeps bringing them down. https://framer.cloud/EvKpB/ (ProTip: I'm wearing glasses so people don't talk/distract me at wework ;p )

So I have two linked PageComponents, one acting as a pagination for the other. I am trying to animate the width of the "active" pagination to be different. Problem is, I can't get it to center the pagination (with it's new width) correctly. I know why this is the case, but I don't know how to fix it! Any ideas/advice?

Noticed an early bug in the new version: Icons are showing up inconsistently between the design / code tabs. All of those icons are the same size - but 4 of them appear much larger than the one in the bottom left corner. Attached are two screenshots - first is the code tab, second is the design tab. Maybe I'm missing something!
