Is there a way to detect when you reach the bottom of a scrolling container? I want to trigger an event to expand a component which is outside of the scrolling container, but need to know when the user has reached the bottom of the container.

What's the easiest way to import and work with classes in FramerJS? I'm creating some classes to help members of my team create their own prototypes using a standard set of UI controls that have logic built-in. I'd like to avoid having them copy/paste the entire set of classes into each prototype. Is there a good way to import them without modules? If not, is it easy to turn a control class into a module?

Testing out ScrollComponents and am listening to the Scroll event. I want to animate a layer when the content inside the scroll is at a certain position (i'm comparing the value of scrollY). It sometimes reaches that point due to the momentum of the scroll but Scroll and ScrollEnd stop listening after I let go of the mouse and doesn't take into account the momentum. Is there another property or something else I should be using?

Hi guys! I'm new to FramerJS, spending this weekend to figure out how to create nice animation. :) Below is my WIP project. http://share.framerjs.com/g1zpawje6nr8/ As you can see, the scaling isn't quite alright, it should be anchored to the top-centre of the screen, not (0,0). I was digging documentation to find way to change this, but nothing seemed to work :/ (i.e: CentreX the super layer, etc) Any recommendations in this case? I'd really appreciate tips and helps!

If anyone is interested, I added a dynamic gradient to the light source example file on the FramerJS website. The gradient just adds another layer to the effect. http://share.framerjs.com/f5arhvlggnj3/ https://vimeo.com/126699351

Is there a good way to handle issues with images specifically this. on the Framer App I have a Nexus 5 body & an image which is 516w x 175h as exported from PS. When i import into the app, the image is properly sized aside from needing a Scale 2 property to fit the screen. When you render in the Framer app on the Nexus 5, the images are cut off after about 1/3 the horizontal width. I seem to have this issue with iphone images as well, where the phone renders the screens differently. I have tried assigning image widths for elements that strech the screen, by defining the width:screen.width, but that always results in a image which is much longer than the screen is wide (like the screen is extended beyond the phone body) Not sure if i should be using some other means to dynamically assign sizes. Last time I had this issue, I had to go back into my code & tweak numbers until it looked better, but I would love to use non-exact sizes to make the prototypes work on devices better. This image / devices issue is one of the main reasons that I can't use this tool for our company's prototyping.

inspired by the recent conversations about the circle/arc animations, I wanted to create SVG paths in framer directly, with the help of SnapSVG. I hook snap into a variable by calling the svg element with s = Snap("#svg"). Unfortunately, any other command on s, like s.circle(...) does fail with "null is not an object". It works fine when doing this manually in the browser's console. Is this is a scoping issue? Is this a compatibility issue with Snap and Framer? http://share.framerjs.com/a2q785b51e7j/ Some easy snap examples: http://snapsvg.io/start/

Hello again, Another question. Is there another way to trigger an event after an animation ends besides using Utils.delay? I'm thinking of a function that is similar to: "layer.on Events.animationEnd" but don't see that in the Docs.

Hi all, Is it normal for Framer Studio to run at molasses pace in regards to animating anything with force2d? I am wondering if I export this into a web project and have people view it on the phone (instead of just mirroring on my browser) will it be just as slow? So far, the Chrome browser runs things smoothly but I'm trying to figure out a way for Framer Studio to not lag as well.

Does anyone have a way of organizing complex code? I have like all the code, including dummy data, layers instantiation and various functions in single file and I'm at the point it needs some MVC separation into individual files. If someone went through the same evolution I'd be curious to see your solution, so that I don't reinvent the wheel here.. Thanks!

OK got really stuck with this and need help please: I took Ed Chao's messaging prototype, made it flexible for various screen sizes. Works fine in Framer Studio with various viewers, but problem is on real iPhone - when input field gets focus, it shifts weirdly somewhere to the middle of screen. All suggested solutions failed so far. Can somebody help please?

Hi all I have been trying to make a slide view, but it does not really work out for me. Here is what i am trying to achieve. I have a center view (iPad), around it, i want to slide up, down, right and left. I am thinking this would be possible by combining the scroll and page component, but i am not sure how to combine them. Any ideas on this? Cheers

Hi all I have a weird problem here. I have set up my project in modules, and importing them works just fine. In the preview in framer app, all looks well and good, but when i display the project on my iPad 3, all the graphics are scaled up, looking all weird. So i tried to set to scale 0,5, but it seems to cause some performance isuues?. Hope somebody can help Cheers

Has anyone recreated the Apple Watch springboard in Framer? I'm giving a demo and would love to show it.
6
Pietro Schirano
Hi guys, I created this module for framer that allows you to test your notification for the Apple Watch. All you need to do is replace the layers in the function, I explain it better inside the file. This is the first attempt to create a module for all the major interactions in the Apple Watch. The hardest part was create animations that could replicate well what Apple did, and as I spent a lot of time on it, I still believe i didn't nailed due to the tons of things that happen ( different curves, times etc ). I hope you may find it useful :) Note: You must have installed the San Francisco typeface in order to visualize it correctly.

Need help! I am working with an imported layer in Photoshop (in this case, a bar graph) that I want to shift [x] pixels on Click. Because of how Photoshop export works, I have to expand the Photoshop canvas to the full width of the bar graph layer before export. This leaves an extra space on the Framer canvas. I want to crop to the part outlined in red in the attached image. I tried this line of code, but it doesn’t do anything: PSD.x = -650 Any ideas or other solutions?

Hi everyone. Few days ago, Chris Lee announced a prototype of iOS Chrome by framer. https://dribbble.com/shots/2023027-Chrome-for-iOS-Quick-Actions?list=searches&tag=chrome&offset=4 But real version's blue circle moves like Jelly. https://dribbble.com/shots/2022862-Chrome-iOS-Pull-to-reload/attachments/357920 So I try to made it more like Real by framer... divide it two pieces.. ^^ http://share.framerjs.com/z8l5euzwpyen/ Did you find another way to reproduce this action?

Thank you Mike Kotsch for approving my request. Hey there and sorry to bother you with my first little issue: I need some advice. What's the best practice preventing clickable items in a scroll component to NOT fire their click event when releasing the touch event after scrolling? My current solution is to detach the click events on the items when scrolling and attach them back after scrolling is done. I'm going to change this for performance reasons to work with a simple flag. But it still feels a little bit dirty.

I was burning my brain cells to find a way to place layers around a circle. Like the attached screenshot (Courtesy of Keezy app!) Framer Studio Documents doesn't seem to have a thing for this case, but please correct me if I'm wrong! Maybe there is a Mathematical function I can refer to.... maybe. To make this happen, below are my thought process. 1. Making 5 buttons using similar way to create "Colletion List" 2. Set up some(?) values for the position, something based on 360 divided by 5.

So... if a stock Sketch iPhone 5s artboard is 320 x 568, why doesn't Framer handle the 2x correctly? I have to say... after working at 1x and only exporting at 2x and 3x, my workflow has been WAY more performant. It's kind of a bummer to have to 2x everything just to work with Framer.

Hi all Me and my Co. worker are getting slightly frustrated with something on paper should be fairly "easy", but maybe we are doing something wrong?. This is not our code, but a code, to demonstrate what we are after. # Set background bg = new BackgroundLayer backgroundColor: "grey" bg.bringToFront() # Create PageComponent page = new PageComponent width: 2048, height: 579 scrollVertical: false page.center() # Create 10 pages alllayers = for i in [0..7] project = new Layer({ width: 325, height: 579 x: (465 * i) backgroundColor: "#fff" superLayer: page.content }) alllayers[1].on Events.Click, -> alllayers[1].animate properties: {scale: 1.2} The effect i am looking for is this. You can click any of the projects, and on click, the "active" project, scales up. At the same time, all the "inactive" projects scales down. This requires prob. two layers for it to work, but we simply can't make it happen, without some odd behaviour. So question is, is this even possible with Framer? Cheers Mike

Has anyone tried using Frameless on the iPad? I created a prototype by importing from a Sketch file. I used the built-in iPad landscape artboard in Sketch, and I have an iPad mini Retina, if that matters.

This may be a really newb question, but I remember when I first dabbled with Framer, there was no Framer Studio (or at least I don't recall seeing it) and things were done using a text editor (like Sublime). Can we still work with Framer JS that way? Or are we now limited to Framer Studio only? I just purchased Framer JS about a week ago and I'm slowly getting the hang of it, already loving it though :) Thanks in advance!

Been working on figuring out all the kinks with this for quite sometime – figured I'd share! It's not perfect, but it's a great start – maybe some of you can take it further! With HTML5 Audio, WebkitAudio, and some Paper.js (for the sine wave), I am able to visualize audio with Framer in both a frequency bars format and in a sine wave. The Framer project is linked below. Couple of things to note: - The project needs to be mirrored to Google Chrome due to certain API restrictions and for full functionality - At the bottom of the project, there is a list of all the links I could remember using to help make this happen - The last link is a very important one for me personally (really want to figure it out!) If you want to dive into making that part happen with me, let me know My brain hurts, haha, I'm off for a little bit! :). Moral of the story: really work hard at learning the math. It opens doors. http://cl.ly/0p1d0y0d430P

Is there a way to control the bounce or momentum of the (awesome) scroll component? I have a prototype where I would love to turn off bounce (or dampen it) in a scroll view. Also, the momentum makes the scroll.ScrollX and .ScrollY attributes very difficult to use - it only returns the value BEFORE the momentum is finished (at least as far as I can tell). Thanks!

I think I'm missing something obvious here, but I can't figure it out. When I use Events.touchEvent(event).clientX to get the x location of a touch event, it works as expected on the iPhone. However, when mirroring in a browser using the iPhone 5S Device setting, the clientX reports an X value based on the top-left of the browser. So, a click in the middle of the screen that should be around x=320 is reported as x=980 (obviously this depends on browser width). Is there a way to translate that, or make it only consider the top left corner of the iPhone template instead of the browser?

How do parse this string into a number in Framer Studio? "110.734375px" Background http://share.framerjs.com/ul45rij7e2mi/ In order to get the width of the text entered in a textfield, I created an invisible layer and plumbed in inputElement.value into it. mylayer.width doesn't get the right value for some reason so I've had to use mylayer.computedStyles()['width'] to get the width but that returns a string. How do I trim that into a number here?

Hello people! I've got a Newb question, more about purpose of using Framer.js: For what types of project is Framer.js the right tool for prototyping? I had a chance to work with InVision and Axure, with I found sufficient for explaining interactions. Axure has a lot of nice features and you can play with variables a lot to get desired outcome. From my perspective It's mainly about native mobile apps. Thanks to Framer you as a designer can hugely improve user experience. Animations and interactions let you save a space and provide user only relevant information. For me usability is prior to fancy animations (but they add some value to overall experience too). Also I have programming background and I see Framer as a opportunity to utilise my knowledge from the past in relevant project. How do you see it guys? Any useful articles? Thanks!

Is there any reason why Framer would be adding extra size (100px) to layers? I'm trying to position a fixed element with superLayer = null with y=0, but it's appearing 100px below the top of the viewport instead of at y = 0. Layers I'm wrapping with a ScrollComponent are also changing to 100px wider.

I just found there are something make me little confuse with Version 1.11.173 (1032), when I open two framer files, you can't set the different type of device. Edit: What I ended up doing, is I made the Photoshop canvas bigger than it needed to be > made the extra space transparent > repositioned the main container from within Framer, on load. If I import a PSD with contents outside of it's canvas, I would not be able to reposition that layer group from within Framer (Think of an off canvas mobile navigation) - those pixels are deleted. Possible solutions would be most welcome :) Thanks!

Hi folks, I'm a little stuck figuring out a scroll problem. I have a scroll component (height:1702) with scroll content (height:1820), I have an animation that increases a cards height and need the scroll content to match and set the new bottom of the scrollable content. For some reason it remains at the original top and bottom points. Plus I need the content to scroll to point in order to bring focus on the extended card. Here's the code I have so far: cardAnimation = () -> card.animate properties: {width:1008, height:1280} openScrollContent.animate properties: {height:4000} openScrollContainer.scrollToPoint({x:0, y:1280}, true, {curve:"ease"}) openScrollContainer.updateContent() Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Have not used Framer in quite a while.. Using latest build of Sketch 3.3.2 (12043) and Framer Studio 1.11.173 (1032). Running into lots of problems getting a simple screen to import. I've tried flattening all my groups to bitmaps, deleting the import folder and re-importing etc. I've even tried the sample files and they seem to work fine (following the exact structure in my file). But I'm still unable to get my design into Framer. Any help is appreciated.

I am working on an animation that involves showing a price to users they have won for a certain product. To build up some excitement, I am looking to reveal the price by initialising the price label from $0.00 and then counting up until the price is reached, to let's say $185.50. How can I achieve such a counting animation? Ideally, the start of the counting would begin somewhat slow, then speed up and get slower again before the price is reached.

Hi all, I'm trying to iterate through names so I can set svgs attributes without having to copy paste. But I'm running into issues understanding how to construct the loop with my limited self taught knowledge. Here is a screenshot of a very simple attempt I've made. I want to set the attributes of object0.. object1...object2 etc which are referencing a snap.path element. I always get undefined is not a function etc. if I do it this way. Or if I try to use an array construction I get maximum call stack exceeded.. help! :)

Hi all, Im new to FramerJS I got a simple question. Im trying to set a text to certain layer, when a button layer clicked. but, when I click a button layer, certain layer is gone. below is my simple test project. Can anyone gives the reason of this issue? Hi all, Is there some sort of restriction on the layer.bringToFront() function? I am trying to move a layer that was imported from Sketch in front of everything else, but it does not do anything. Some context: the layer is currently nested under a folder in the Sketch file, and the folder is under another layer folder in Sketch. I want to move a sublayer above a folder layer if that makes any sense.

I just noticed that Framer Importer/OSX has this "feature" where it adds "-2" to every layer group that has the same name. I assume this happens because I'm actually generating two files, in the same directory, that has the same name... Is there a way to get around this? I hope to reuse a function that takes a ('target'), and then assigns that targets children into variables.

Hello, I am trying to "shuffle" an array of numbers in FramerJS. To my understanding the fastest way to do this is with the Fisher-Yates Shuffle (see http://bost.ocks.org/mike/shuffle/ or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fisher–Yates_shuffle). I am wondering how to run this in FramerJS, considering I cannot seem to use a while loop? This algorithm involves the following JavaScript code. function shuffle(array) { var m = array.length, t, i; while (m) { i = Math.floor(Math.random() * m--); t = array[m]; array[m] = array[i]; array[i] = t; } return array; }

Is there a way to add a property to an existing state without having to override the properties that were previously defined for that state? For example, my state has an "x" value defined and I want to later add in a "y" value but keep the "x" value. If I just add the state again with the same name and only define the "y" value, the previous "x" value is lost.

hey people, am I the only one who has trouble using states.switchInstant because its not working as expected? e.g. I have a layer that animates to a state and during that animation I want to switch instantly to another state. switchInstant doesnt really work for me here. Actually switchInstant just messes with the ongoing animation, but doesnt stop it and the layer still animates to the end of the previous animation. I would expect that switchInstant is a short way of writing .states.switch("statename"), time: "0" . But this is not what happens and for me this often leads to a buggy behaviour. I did a quick mockup to show and discuss this behaviour. Press the red layer multiple times to see the switchInstant behaviour and the green layer for the time: "0" behaviour.

So are these Framer bugs I'm discovering? http://share.framerjs.com/9u6npxh36pmv/ Issue #1: Tapping the "Dismiss" layer does not trigger a state change. Seems related to the PageComponent issue I was seeing here, because switchInstant() will work, while switch() will not: https://www.facebook.com/groups/framerjs/687287008065040/ Issue #2: Dragging the "coverLayer" up or down slightly from it's resting position when it's in the "up" state will trigger a "TypeError: null is not an object (evaluating 'this._simulation.y')". Seems like this issue hasn't been resolved either: https://www.facebook.com/groups/framerjs/permalink/665992980194443/ Can I get some guidance here, Koen Bok, Benjamin Den Boer, Jorn van Dijk, Jonas Treub?

Today I wanted to find an easy fix for the absolute point position, which has been discussed a couple of times, but I cannot find the solutions people posted. I was able to easily calculate the absolute pointer position by subtracting Framer.Device.screen.screenScaledFrame().x and then dividing by Framer.Device.screen.canvasScaleX(). So far the results are satisfying: http://share.framerjs.com/d4r932kftiro/ However, I have two problems: 1) When adding another layer from sketch, my values are suddenly off: http://share.framerjs.com/e4ur7llzg02r/ (see the comparison between box.screenScaledFrame() and event.client 2) in the print output above you see Framer.Device.screen.screenscaledFrame() and an imported layer that has the same size as the screen, however, sketch.background.screenScaledFrame() still reports the un-scaled with and height. Is screenScaledFrame() supposed to only work on Framer.Device.screen? Is there a bug that causes the values to be off, Koen Bok? What do you think of adding a snippet or a blob in the docs about calculating the absolute pointer position for events Benjamin Den Boer?

Hey all! Is there a quick way of doing 'parallax' transitions on PageComponents? Was using this site as a tutorial ( https://ihatetomatoes.net/how-to-create-a-parallax-scrolling-website-part-2/ ) then realized it'd probably be faster in framer... any tips?

Can anyone help me out with this. New to framer and this is the start of my first project - a tumblr concept for the apple watch. Basically, you click the post to bring up the like and reblog buttons, click either/both of those, and then have to click the post again to hide them. How would I go about having a click event on one object do two different things? In this case, I need it to also hide the active state of the like button.

Hi all, Is there an easy way where I can have a button trigger ALL states and ALL conditions back to default...like "refreshing the page"? Or is there a way where I can get the Framer prototype to refresh itself in the browser? Thank you!

It is an Apple Watch Sound App Notification, a concept for iOS 9 and paired Apple Watch. This is my first tiny project, I recycled/use other code from a different project, then I though how to do it... and here it is, enjoy.

Hey there, I've been using framerjs for 3 days and it's very compelling, but I'm struggling with something very easy: I have a dropdown menu layer with some list items inside, each one with its own layer. The dropdown layer fades away at MouseOut, but when the mouse hovers the list items layers, the dropdown layer fades away as well. How can I make those inner level to not interfere with their parent? Hope you can get what I wrote :)

Hi all, How do you stop a scroll component from listening? I tried the ignoreEvents = false method but that does not work.

Hi All! I am interested in cross-screen transitions such as in Li Jingyuan's Weibo Apple Watch example on framerjs.com. Can you point me to Sketch files which showcase how the elements are laid out? Trying to identify pros/cons of using single artboard with multiple screen-like elements vs. multi-artboard design. Thanks in advance!

How would I go about linking to a google font? Do I just place the link in the index.html file of the framer project?

Hey everyone! Me and my team is working on a Webapp which we want to prototype interactions from a Sketch document, but we arent sure if it’s a good choice to learn our designer Framer or if he should just learn Javascript, CSS and HTML. He will probably be working on Sketch to IOS later on. Any suggestions?

Hi there, is there a short cut for "Shift + Tab" in Framer? I bet there is..., want to get out of my silly manual intensive way of pressing delete key.

Today we're opening up Beta testing for everyone. So you guys can play with new features, discuss them and we can fix issues sooner. Much like Sketch, it's an app that you can run next to the stable release. http://blog.framerjs.com/posts/try-the-latest-framer-studio-features.html
